About us

Comfort. Design. Proudly South African.

Celebrating 15 Years

Taylormade Designs has been designing and manufacturing premium beanbags and relaxed furniture in Cape Town for 15 years.

It began with a simple idea: a beanbag should be incredibly comfortable, beautifully made and capable of staying that way for more than a season.

So we set out to make one properly.

Fifteen years and more than 18,000 customers later, that same principle still shapes everything we make.

Why ours don't go flat

The secret is inside.

Many beanbags are filled with chipped foam: irregular offcuts left over from mattress and furniture production. It’s inexpensive, but over time it compacts and loses its support.

We do things differently.

Our foam is flaked in-house to achieve a more consistent fill and the supportive, sink-in comfort Taylormade beanbags are known for. It costs more and requires greater control over production, but it means our products are designed to hold their shape for years, not months.

The same thinking goes into the rest of the construction.

We use premium 375gsm corduroy, with overlocked seams, double stitching and dual zips designed to withstand everyday use. Covers are removable and washable, because beautiful furniture still needs to survive kids, pets, movie nights and real life.

Made here. Controlled by us.

Our products are designed and manufactured in Cape Town, giving us control over the details that determine how something looks, feels and lasts.

From material selection and foam preparation to cutting, construction and quality control, our manufacturing process happens locally.

It means we can continuously refine our products rather than simply accepting what comes from an external factory. Better construction, better materials, better finishes. We can make those decisions where they matter: on the production floor.

It also means choosing South African manufacturing, supporting local employment, suppliers and skills.

Made for the homes we live in

Our furniture is designed to be lived on.

Children will jump on it. Dogs will claim it. Drinks will be spilled. Covers will be washed. Someone will inevitably fall asleep on it.

That’s why durability isn't an added feature. It’s part of the design.

Our fabrics are chosen for everyday use, covers are removable and washable, and construction is reinforced where it matters.

Because the best furniture isn't the furniture you're afraid to use.

Independently tested fabrics

The fabrics we use are OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning they have been independently tested against a comprehensive list of potentially harmful substances.

That matters when something is going into a living room, bedroom or playroom, where children, pets and families spend their time.

It’s one more detail you shouldn't have to wonder about.

The more sustainable choice is often the one you keep

We believe longevity matters.

A product that needs replacing every year creates more waste, regardless of the claims printed on its packaging.

So we focus on making ours last: durable fabrics, supportive foam, strong construction and washable, replaceable covers designed to extend the life of the product.

And because we manufacture in Cape Town, our products aren't travelling halfway around the world before reaching your home.

Five years. Fully backed.

Every Taylormade product is backed by a five-year warranty on fabric and workmanship.

After 15 years in business, that warranty means something.

We're established, we're local, and we'll be here if you need us.

18,000+ customers and counting

Fifteen years of refining what we make. Thousands of homes across South Africa. And a simple idea we haven't changed:

Make it incredibly comfortable. Make it properly. Make it last.
